TECHNOLOGY IS IN ALL THE WAY

Starting this 2nd Quarter, all information going home regarding your child's classes will go home via a blog or a wiki. All homeroom teachers, including 1st grade ,will be sending Spelling Lists, assignments, tests, titles of books being read in class, information on the "all about me" activity , changes in schedule, lists of supplies needed, info on special activities, SOS cries, etc.
Different subjects will have different expectations and Special teachers , as well as homeroom will give you the information needed to work as a team for the benefit of your child.

Please understand that these need to be updated frequently, but that teachers will update these at different times(not everyone will have their blog up by Monday 8:00am. every week) and some teachers will give you information for 2 or 3 weeks at a time.

Continue to check your child's Assignment Notebook on a daily basis and please check your class blog on a regular basis. We do not want you to miss important information that will affect your child's progress in school.

For those of us that find technology challenging, this is the best way to keep up with our children's skills. We hope you find the information helpful and join our efforts in SAVING OUR EARTH.

NEWS NEWS NEWS NEWS

  • We are very happy to announce that Ana Maria Hernandez, current I-C assistant, who joined The American School this year, along with her husband Ismael, has been recently nominated for an Emmy Award on a special news report she did while working for the local Spanish TV station KTVW Univision in Arizona. As one of the station's news reporter, Ana did a piece that deals with a small community in the border town of Nogales where groups of families depend on the trash deposited daily in the town's landfill. Ana's way of portraying the dignity and ability for survival of these families has won her a nomination for this year's NATAS Rocky Mountain Emmy. We are very proud of Ana and honored to have her among our staff. The winner will be announced October 24th. We will keep you posted!
  • The Values "charla" for parents last Thursday was a big success. Thank you to the 60 parents who represented the Elementary. Emotional Intelligence is a topic well researching. Thank you again!!
  • A huge THANK YOU to all the parents who wait for their children on the rotunda in the front parking area and at the cafeteria in the back. Dismissal is so much more orderly and much safer for your children. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

LATEST NEWS

It is very nice to be able to communicate with you using this method. I hope parents find it helpful and an extension to The Eagle Courier that goes home at the end of each month.

Please be aware that the staff will be posting their blogs on a weekly basis for the most part. It is very important that you check your child's classroom blogs or wikis periodically since the students will be responsible for the work posted on these.

We will try to give you information that the students can use and work on their own. If for any reason, we have to miss any more school days, the staff will assign work that will continue the students' education using materials other than their class textbooks or books that they may not have at home.

Extra information for academic review/practice for your child, may be found on the AST website under teacher resources.
