The Elementary Principal

The Elementary Principal's Corner: Tegucigalpa, Honduras; I have been at AST for so many years that I imagine most parents will have heard something about "Mrs. Martinez" by now. Neverthelees, let me tell you this is my 29th year at AST.I started as a 1st grade teacher for 9 years, moved to 4th,then 6th and in August of 1995 became part of the administra-tive team. I am a graduate of AST, my 2 children are graduates of the school and my husband is a former SEIT president. I currently work with many of my former 1st grade students and get to say hello to parents who were once my 1st grade babies,too. My heart is in all I do for The American School and I will always work to provide best practices and a safe environment for your children. I am priviledged to be one of the many AST alumni and have gained so much through the years because of the excellent education I received at The American School ,that it is my duty to reciprocate. Be assured , my doors are always open to aid you in any way I can.

BRINGING COLOR TO OUR SPEECH

ACE UP YOUR SLEEVE "I do not know how Peter is going to get his mom to buy him a bike,but I'm sure he has an ace up his sleeve."
MEANING:a surprise or secret advantage , especially something tricky that is kept hidden until needed

ADD FUEL TO THE FIRE I was already angry at you, and when you forgot to pick me up, that just added fuel to the fire.
MEANING: to make someone angrier; to make a bad situation worse
